There are several factors that can play into survey completion rates, and some best practices you can apply to ensure you get the best completion rates possible!
To help you design a healthy survey, the estimated completion rate is provided on the Health tab.
67% -100% There is almost always room for improvement but the majority of your respondent base that start the survey will likely complete it. That's great news!
34% - 66% This isn't ideal... you may not get enough data to provide you with actionable results. You should definitely consider making some changes to improve this rating.
0% - 33% Uh-oh! Changes are definitely needed to ensure you get more completed surveys!
So, what can you do to ensure you get the best completion rates possible on your surveys?
We recommend:
-
Keep the survey length under 5 minutes and clearly announce the duration.
- When using a progress bar, ensure each page takes roughly the same amount of time to complete.
-
Make the questions as easy and as enjoyable as possible.
-
Limit the number of open questions and intersperse them with more enjoyable, easy questions.
- Encourage respondents to share their experience with you by telling them why you are asking for their feedback and how the survey data will be used. E.g. to improve customer experience, etc.
